What to Expect From a Visit to Our Bowling Green Vet Hospital
As a loving pet owner, you're ready to give your best friend the best of care -- and that means scheduling a visit to Snodgrass Veterinary Medical Center. Our Bowling Green veterinarian, Dr. Stan Snodgrass, looks forward to meeting your pet for the first time and providing any necessary care, including that all-important initial wellness exam. But if you've never come to our vet hospital before, you may be wondering exactly what you and your pet can expect from the experience. Let's take a look at the basic routines and procedures.
First Things First
Just as you normally have to fill out medical forms when you first visit a medical doctor, dentist or optometrist, you'll need to fill out some key documentation for your pet's first visit to our vet hospital. This information includes your pet's name, weight, age, breed, and the current state of health. there's also a section where you can check off any particular issues your pet may be experiencing, along with their location and apparent severity. If you've scheduled wellness care, different sections of the form cover questions related to different procedures, from parasite control and diet to behavioral concerns. You'll be happy to know that these forms are available for downloading and printing right here on the website. This will help you enjoy a speedier office visit.
Both you and your pet will appreciate the ambiance you encounter when you first step through our doors. We maintain a clean, comfortable vet hospital that inspires confidence and relaxation.
Exams and Other Procedures From Our Bowling Green Veterinarian
Our Bowling Green veterinarian will typically administer an initial exam to get a baseline idea of your pet's overall health. A wellness exam is generally recommended on an annual basis for most healthy adult animals. Senior pets should have this exam twice a year, while baby animals may need multiple preventative vet appointments in their first year of life. We will take your pet's vital signs and weight while also running laboratory tests, inspecting his external features, and observing his musculoskeletal and neurological function. Other procedures we may recommend during your pet's first visit include:
- Dental checkups and cleanings (performed under general anesthesia)
- De-worming or other pest/parasite treatment
If your pet is showing signs of a problem, we can run additional diagnostic, administering immediate treatment if necessary to relieve symptoms and assist the healing process. Your pet's first exam is also your opportunity to ask about any aspect of pet health or home care. We're happy to make any dietary, nutritional, behavioral or home hygiene recommendations that might enhance your pet's well being for life. Last but not least, we'll let you know when your pet needs to visit us again for particular procedures.
